I am arranging a group tour for 21 people march 2008, we arrive in Bologna and need to reach Rimini. I know about the shuttle bus from Bologna Airport to the Station but I am starting to worry about what to do next. Should I pre-book seats hoping our flight is not delayed at all? Also we travel back on a Sunday, do trains run?

A little more than half the trains from Bologna to Rimini are either regional trains or IC trains, both of which have open seating (the IC trains also have reserved seating). This means that if you have room to stand, you can get on the train. This means that if you just showed up at the station, that you would be likely to get everyone on a train fairly quickly. It's possible, of course, that they might not all be on the SAME train, particularly if a premium train is the next train and doesn't have 21 open seats.
Most tour operators would rent a bus and a driver and handle it themselves. While this might be more expensive, the convenience factor would be quite high for both the tour group members and the tour leader, because you wouldn't have to arrange for the trip over to the train station (what are the odds that all 21 of you will fit on the shuttle at one time with other passengers?), and you would be able to keep everyone together - and their luggage would be easier to handle (can all 21 of these people carry their own luggage on to the train?). Oh, yes the trains run on Saturday - most trains run 7 days a week... Bill
