Just wondering if Watumpka is worth a look. When I heard it is in a meteor crater, I thought WOW, but there aren't many photos of it. I watched Big Fish recently, but it didn't give much of a feel for the place either.

We are driving between Montgomery and Auburn here in a couple weeks, looking for interesting backroads places to explore, so is Watumpka worth a detour?? Cheers!

Wetumpka, sorry!

Unless someone corrects me, I would say there is nothing to see in Wetumpka except maybe the Women's Correctional Facility there. I attended Auburn and unless things have changed in the past 20 years (I know they have at Auburn), there isn't much in Wetumpka. In fact, not too many people even cared about the crater until about 10 years ago. They do sponsor crater tours annually (not regular tourist thing) and due to the size of it, and the age of it, you can't really see too much. Wetumpka is a quaint little town though.

I figured as much. If the crater was that prominent, you'd think I'd be able to find a photo online somewhere.
