| North Carolina | East Coast Roadtrip: Outer Banks in May Posted: Wed February 27, 2008 08:22 PM UTC
Hi and thanks for reading.
I'm considering a road trip up the Atlantic Coast from Tampa to NYC and would like to visit the Outer Banks, since I've never been. Researching a little, driving its length seems out because of the ferry situation. However, I would like to park the car and take the ferry over just for a while, then back and continue north. Questions: I prefer isolated beaches. Would it be better to take the ferry in the town of Atlantic over to the barrier island or keep driving to Cedar Island and take the vehicle ferry? Would it be worth it at all to do the above, or would I be satisfied with the more accessible beaches further north, probably starting with Nags Head, since I'll be driving there anyway? Thanks in advance. -Colin |
