| Antrim | Getting to the Giant's Causeway in March? Posted: Wed February 27, 2008 08:45 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about going to Belfast at the end of March and really want to see the Giant's Causeway. Looks like Ulsterbus is the best way to get there, but that the route to Giant's Causeway isn't running until the summer. Anyone have any other ideas about how to get there? Thanks! Andi in London |

There is a journeyplanner on this page:
http://www.translink.co.uk/atulsterbus.asp If you put in Belfast/Giant's Causeway it will come up with some options (I checked for today, so they will be equally valid in March), though these involve changing buses and/or train. Journey time is 2.5 to 3.5 hours, whether you use buses alone or take the train/bus option, which is also displayed.

Remember to take warm/waterproof clothing with you. It snowed when I visited in late April.

There are dedicated trips from Belfast up to the Causeway. Here's one that's recommended on the Tourist Information website.

you could take the train to either Coleraine or portrush the railways in Northern Ireland are run by Northern Ireland railways and there is only one company for the whole of NI , Ulsterbus NI railways and Metro the bus service in Belfast come under the Umbrella of "Translink" their website is www.translink.co.uk -you could get off the train in Coleraine or Portrush and get a bus to the causeway (use the "Journey Planner") Maybe use either Portrush or its Next door neighbour Portstewart as a base they are a few youth hostels in both there is also a YHA NI hostel in Bushmills which is a small town about 5mins from giants causeway remember to get the train from Great Victoria Street Station in Belfast which is combined with the Europa Bus Centre they share the same building and the entrance is located beside the Europa Hotel on Great Victoria Street in Belfast with the words "GREAT NORTHERN MALL" you go through this walk way consisting of small shops and cafes etc and into the bus centre and turn left and then do a Right round the corner and you will see the ticket desk for train tickets if the ticket office is closed by a ticket off the Ticket inspectors desk before going onto the platform you will need the (LONDONDERRY/DERRY LINE ) NIR Trains are new trains and the ride will take you about 1hr 30 mins through some amazing countryside enjoy your trip to NI
