| Zermatt | End of March - 1st week in april Posted: Wed February 27, 2008 04:43 PM UTC
What are the slopes like around this time of year. Is there much snow fall. Ive read that the slopes are a bit slushy as the moment.
Thanks in advance :) |

Due to higher altitude, slopes in Zermatt keep in good shape even in Spring. By experience I went skiing several times in April and really enjoy slopes above 2200m up to 3'800m absl. After midday and if temperature is increasing the slopes could be slushy especially under 2000 meters but you could still go down to Zermatt village by ski. By the way spring skiing let you enjoy a great Après ski on some great sunny terracces. My advice: Go skiing earlier to get best snow condition (10AM-1PM).
Enjoy your Swiss sunny and snowy stay!

Some lower slopes will be slushy.
But the Klein Matterhorn goes up over 3500m and will be fine, although some runs are of limited interest. Gornegart and Sunnegga will provide good/great skiing too, but you may have to catch the train down from 2000m. Above that it'll be good. If that's the earliest you can go, I'd say go anyway.
