There are 2 salons for this service - one in downtown disney and a new one at the magic kingdom. You do need a reservation because they are so busy you could spend a large part of the day waiting to get in. If you are staying in one of the Disney hotels they can take care of it for you once you get there - which may mean taking what's left - if there is an opening. Or you get get on the web and call an agent they can take care of all kinds of reservations.
FYI - as a side note I would also consider making dinner reservations for any place you are sure you want to try - they book up months in advance for the nicer and funnier places. Try the Sci-Fi Drive in diner in MGM - great burgers and a lot of fun - especially for kids. Have a great time!!! I love Disney
