| Vancouver | Granville Market Query Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 03:04 PM UTC
When visiting Vancouver last fall we spent a wonderful day on Granville Island. While grazing through the Market we stopped at an Italian food vendor (right inside the door on the right) and purchased THE BEST OLIVES I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! They were an array of multi-colored olives in all sizes and hues (brick red, bright green, tiny jet black). I later saw them again served as an appetizer in a cafe in Gastown. Could someone help me identify the name of the olive mix and perhaps what company sells them. I would love to track down a supplier and see if I can find a vendor in the USA. Thanks for your suggestions.

Wow Dave, that's great! You can send me an email here at VT if that's convenient (Packed2Go@vtmail.com or at wte@mail.com). The vendor we purchased the olives from was in the middle section of the market building just inside one of the doors on the interior side (not the waterfront side) - hope that helps. It was definitely the Italian section. I've been hankering for those olives ever since we left the city - they were memorable, and I've never seen them in the USA. Any info you can find would be most appreciated.
Thanks for helping this food fanatic out! - Susan

I know exactly the place - Zara's Deli. Their phone number's 604-683-2935. I know the olives you're talking about too. They're massive firm olives and the colours almost look fake. I don't know what they're called, but I've also seen them at Urban Fare: www.urbanfare.com

Wait, that sounds nice. I have tried chocolate milk but, it never quite did it. Melted chocholate or syrup sounds good

10am training for my new job downtown, remembering that only 2 days before I was sitting on Long Beach soaking up the sun. :P
Okay, I lied - it wasn't really chocolate. For Christmas I got some flavoured coffee, so I added a tiny bit of the chocolate coffee to the dark roast beans I use in my bodum. It was really delicious. It was a very suble mocha.
