| Melaka | Malacca Queries Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 10:33 AM UTC
Vanakam, we plan to go up to Malacca in mid-March '08.
Does anyone know if the "Sound & Light Show" is still on, or is it now a thing of the past ? :( Also, can anyone advise which hotel is better, Hotel Puri or Aldy Hotel ? I think both are, more or less, in Bandar Hilir, but I've not stayed in Puri before, so would appreciate some guidance. Oh, before I forget, there is a popular place for Dim Sum in Jln Laksaman Cheng Ho, its on the ground floor of a 4-storey hotel diagonally opposite the "new" Tan Kim Hock. Does anyone know the name of the Hotel & the restaurant ? The last time I was there (in 2004), it was called Restoran Yum Yum, in Hotel Bentona, but someone told me its changed. Also, any recommendations for good Chinese seafood ? Cheers. |

The "Light & Sound show" is not available anymore the place has been converted into a shopping mall.Hotel Puri is better,it located in Hareen street which is just 3mins away from Jonker walk.I do not know about Dim Sum.While in Melaka try Nyonya food instead of Chinese.Nyonya food restaurant are all located in Taman Melaka Raya

For me, I'm going there in July alone from Thailand and my accommadation now I'm considering between twentymelaka and sama sama guesthouse in Jonker street the atmospheres are most suitable for backpackers and the price is cheap.

Vanakam, stayed @ Aldy (Stadhuys).
Nice boutique place, smll but well appointed rooms, it was the 2nd time I've stayed there in 2 years. Service is good, & they've got the "Bamboo Hut Bistro" on the ground floor, where buffet dinners are well prepared, & you are entertained by a very good folk singer. Cheers.
