You can travel with Greyhound from Darwin to Jabiru - not a daily service. Not sure how you would fair from there.

Kakadu covers a very large area with some large distances between the points of interest within it. You may be able to get to Jabiru but then you need to get around. Is a bus tour our car rental out of the question? I would also try to get to Katherine Gorge while your in the general area (still a long distance away).

Hi Sophie, I second that getting around could be a major problem. We took a small guided 3-day-tour (operator: Gondwana, 10 people). The roads are usually non-tarred and in my opinion quite difficult terrain, 4WD-country, and sometimes even river crossings. Though we usually self-drive in National Parks, I would not want to do it in Kakadu. Kakadu, by the way, was great - you should not miss it. Fantastic landscape, waterfalls, crocodiles, Aboriginal art - just great!
