| Punta Cana | Salsa Dancing Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 04:20 PM UTC
A group of 6 are going to DR and we like to salsa dance. Do they play salsa at most of the discos? We are staying at the Iberostar Bavaro. Where are some places to go. I've read some cllub called Mangu i think? Do they play Salsa there. Thanks!@

I've been to various cities in DR (Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo, Punta Cana and La Romana). All the clubs and lounge areas in the resorts play Merengue. Not sure if you know the difference, but I believe you mean latin music in general. Merengue is popular in Dominican Republic; whereas Salsa music and dance is more popular in Puerto Rico; however, merengue and salsa are played in both, just that merengue is more popular in DR. You'll love the music, it's great and a lot of fun, especially if you dance merengue. Hope this helps!
