| Gold Coast | Brisbane Airport to Surfer Paradise Hotel - Public Transport Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 02:24 AM UTC
I'm going to Brisbane and GC in March and I would like to know besides taking coachtran, if I want to take a train from Brisbane airport to Surfer Paradise hotel, should I take off from Nerang? Then how do I go to the hotel from Nerang? Please kindly advise.
PS. I will be staying in Courtyard by Marriot and I don't have a driving license so I can't rent a car. Thanks |

As you have already worked out the train does not go to the centre of the Gold Coast where you hotel is located but to Nerang which is about 15km away. There are other Gold coast stations of Robina, Helensvale, Coomera and Ormeau but your hotel web site recommends Nerang which must be the closest. There is a bus from the station that leaves after the train arrives. Your hotel web page says it is located 0.5km from the bus depot but with a bit of luck your bus or another might take you closer to your hotel.
From the link below it looks like the train fare would be $24.70 and i think the bus fare would be between $4 and $5 but if your going to use the bus a lot you may find some sort of period ticket may save you money. The Brisbane airport shuttle may end up costing more but may be worth the convenience. Gold Coast has it's own airport but if your an international traveller that may be of not much help. http://www.citytrain.com.au/plan_your_trip/timetab

To the best of my knowledge, the Shuttle from Brisbane Airport to the Gold Coast costs in the vicinity of AUD$40. This would be by far, a better way to go as it will drop you off close to your hotel if not at the door.

Check with your hotel to see if they have a curtesy coach, some of the big names such as the Marriot may do this. Otherwise I agree with the shuttle bus as they take you and your luggage to the door.
Have fun. Dorrise

Thank you everyone! I think I'll take the shuttle option while waiting for Marriot's feedback re the coach service. For the shuttle, is coachtrans the only option?
