Baguio Central & Comfy Accommodation
Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 01:45 AM UTC
Greetings once again VT'ers.
GF & I will be back in PH again in April. Looking to be in Baguio from 1st April. Missing the Easter madness I hope. I've read some of the suggestions for acc. from posters like Jane, but haven't found something in budget - Camp John Hay Manor is nice but pricey.

Looking at the $40USD mark and really just nice bed, AC and bath. We'll be eating out mostly.

I would like some contacts (phone or internet) to book either an apartment, inn or B&B. Nothing flash, but something central. We plan to be travelling by taxis most of the time.

Is there like a central area where most hotels or accomodations are located? I saw a lot of places mention they are next to Barnham Park?

BTW - is it OK to negotiate a daily rate with a taxi driver for sight-seeing?

Thanks for your advice. I'm really looking forward to being back.

Try Hotel Veniz. It is near Burnham Park, near Session Road, near the City Hall, near the Market and a lot of other Baguio landmarks. The price isn't bad (less than your mark). Of course the rooms are not anything special but will suffice for regular travelers and business people.

Hello!

If you wanna save up on accomodations, and spend more on food, then we might have the right place for you. It may not be a hotel, inn type, but i'm sure it's a great place to stay at.

I think it's cheaper to be hiring a van to show you around, than getting a cab.

Anyways, i'm interested to help you out on both. If you see yourself interested, then let's talk at lasinen@gmail.com.

Hope to hear from you the soonest.

you can also check out the microtel chain - the baguio hotel is right beside the SM Mall.

if you want john hay type accommodation - check hotel elizabeth, but it is in the mines view area.

Hi. Have you visited my vt pages? anyway, here's the link. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/aa89d/1586f6/3/

I've written about afineplace.com. They have units for every budget. so your 40 USD will get you one unit there I'm sure. just call gigi cruz and do mention that I referred you to her. her contact details are at www.afineplace.com. She normally responds quickly to both email and text messages.

Also recommendable is the Tamawan Village. It's really a romantic place and you'll find the url of the village at the link I indicated above.

There's another one - peredo's? It's in one of the baguio travel pages of a vter. I visited the place when I was there. It's really nice and cozy.

Hope that helped.

by the way unless you are going to far flung areas like tam-awan or the santo tomas peak or the balatoc mines, there's really no need to negotiate for a taxi to pick you up everyday. It'll be more expensive. Just negotiate on a per need basis. For example you need a cab from Camp John hay to balatoc, then hail a cab and ask him to wait for you while you take the tour. After the Balatoc tour, go back to the city and you won't need the cab anymore to wait for you because they are a-plenty there.
