Corfu Island Travel from Rome to Corfu
Posted: Sun February 24, 2008 07:40 PM UTC
I want to meet some friends in Corfu while I am travelling in Italy. Is it easier (cheaper/travel time?) to fly from Rome to Corfu or find my way to Brindisi then take the ferry to Corfu.

If you COULD fly, it would be the easiest way to go, however unless something has changed, there are no direct (scheduled, anyway) flights from Rome to Corfu, you would have to go via Athens. Of course there might be flight-only deals with package holiday companies taking Italians on holiday to Corfu that I don't know about.

For the time being, there are no scheduled flights from Rome to Corfu! The Italians prefer to travel to Greece massively from 15 July to 15 August, so in that period it would be easier to find a charter flight.

For the current period, the only way would be to travel by train to Bari and from there to catch any of the boats to Corfu and Patras.

I hope to have been of assistance.

I took the train and ferry a few years ago. You can look at the countryside whilst going to Brindisi, which isn't a salubrious area. If you can arranged your ferry ticket in advance then get a train which limits your stay in Brindisi all the better. Take some food with you for the overnight crossing and if possible get an internal ticket or else you'll be on deck all night and if on deck try to get in front of the funnels as the soot will get everything black. There are faster ferries, all below
