Manila Things to do

I'll spend 3 days with my sister in Makati. Please suggest some itineraries so we could make the most out of it. I suppose you'll recommend eating out and shopping - but I'm open to other suggestions. Thanks much!

try to ride a go-kart at the fort. It's across the MC depot. Also, you can go to the National Museum and the Intramuros.

Ellineil, thanks for the tip on climbing the Taal. Two and a half years ago, I would not have hesitated to just do it. Being confined in compounds in Afghanistan most of the time, it is always a shock if I go on foot the entire day. We spent an overnight in Tagaytay last time I went home and it was fun. This time, I'd like to just have a good time with my sis (who needs a break because she's a working mom - a nurse at that)for some days. We'll be staying at Tower Inn Makati so any tips around or near this place would be great! We have a car so no problem with movement.

If you like history you could visit the Corredidor light and sound show.
This is a tour that takes you by boat to Corregidor. There are displays that show you about the the last ditch defense against the Japanese during WWII. Kind of interesting if you like history.

Compare prices. I think I purchased my ticket right at the dock area. But it has been a few years since then.

Good luck.

If you are there on a Saturday, maybe you could have lunch at the Salcedo weekend market at Salcedo village Makati; try to ride the Pasig river ferry which runs a route to-from Binondo to somewhere in Guaalupe (i think ha); go for a guided tour with Carlos Celdran (search for walkthisway blog) of Intramuros or Escolta or Binondo or the CCP area (Imelda tour) or tour intramuros and the environs by yourself; if its not too geeky go to the National Musem near Luneta or Ayala Museum (near Greenbelt 3) or the MEtropolitan Museum (at BSP); go to SanMig by the Bay at Mall of Asia and choose a resto where you could chill out and watch the Manila Bay sunset; go to a spa and relas (like Wensha spa near Macapagal highway).
