HELLO
I AM PLANNING TO GO TO CANNES UN JUNE AND I TALK TO MY TRAVEL AGENT, AND SHE TOLD ME TO STAY IN THE MAJESTIC BARRIERE HOTEL, AND IT SUPPOSED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS HOTELS, BUT I HAVE BEEN READING REVIEWS AND THEY ARE BAD, THEY SAY THE HOTEL IS OLD, THAT THEY ARE INSECTS IN THE ROOMS, THAT IT'S DIRTY, SO I AM REALLY CONFUSED, THEN, MY SECOND OPTION IS THE INTERCONTINENTAL CARLTON HOTEL, BUT THE REVIEWS ALSO SAY IS DIRTY, OLD, THAT NEEDS TO BE RENOVATED, SO I AM GETTING TO THE POINT I AM SO CONFUSED, I AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING NICE ON LA CROISETTE AVENUE, CAN SOMEBODY GIVE ME ADVISE???, I HAVE BEEN READING REVIEWS FROM THIS PAGE AND EVERYBODY SEEM TO KNOW A LOT. Both tripadvisor.com and venere.com rate their their hotels by popularity. I have always found them fairly accurate as long as you don't expect 5* for 2* prices. You have obviously looked at some of them and may not find the price for Barriere worth the potential slights. Good luck,

Type Cannes into the VT Search Window above to do a Destination Search. When you get to the Cannes Travel Pages, on the left side of your screen, check Hotel and Accomodations Tips. These are reviews and suggestions posted by VT members who have stayed in these hotels. They will include photos and contact information. You should find something nicer than what you are describing.

Good luck.

Rather than rely on a travel agent who is, after all, working for commission, do your own research on the sites suggested above and find somewhere which best suits your budget. Venere has honest reviews from recent guests (they send questionnaires about a week after your stay) and they are also a reliable booking site.

Hi! The best way: stay in states here we have many insects resistant to repellants and we have the Sarkozy wich is a wild and hungry beast, so take care, it could be dangerous to come in France...

There aren't too many options directly on the Croisette. Both the Majestic and Carlton are older high rated hotels. Both have beautiful public areas. As far as the rooms are concerned, they both have a wide variety, so if you are not satisfied with what they give you, you can ask for something else. Over the years, most have been renovated. The Majestic has a nice pool, right in front, by the entrance. The Carlton does not have a pool. They are both across from the beach and have their own private beaches. The Carlton has a beautiful beach-side restaurant, great for a liesurely though pricey meal, along with great people-watching. Another option in the same price and rating range is the Martinez, which is a few blocks further east, also on the Croisette. Barriere also owns the Gray d'Albion, also on the Croisette, well located about a block or so east of the Majestic. Its much newer, modern, and has a wide variety of rooms. They tend to be a little on the small side. Its in a complex which includes a condo, and the hotel rooms generally face either Rue du Serbes, Rue d'Antibes (noisiest rooms), or an internal garden area, which means no view of the Croisette, but nice and quiet at night. The hotel faces Rue du Serbes, and the side of the building on the Croisette is actually part of the condominium section. Finally, there is the old Noga Hilton, just taken over by Sofitel...now called the something-or-other Stephanie, not to be confused with their other hotel at the old port. While its a bit flashy and the lobby a bit tacky in style (white marble floors and red furniture), it has a roof-top pool, and the rooms are all quite modern and comfortable. Its a block or so west of the Carlton, closer to the Palais du Festival.

I hope this is helpful.

The Majestic has just been renovated (finished Feb 08) and so should be much nicer now. There may also be some deals going.
It is one of the 3 palace hotels in Cannes. The others are the Martinez and the Carlton.
Both the Majestic and the Carlton are traditional in style. The Martinez is art deco. With all of them be careful to try and get the best room you can, preferably with a sea view if your budget will stretch. The rooms at the back of the hotel are not worth the money.
Another option on the Croisette is the Grand hotel which was renovated last year and is more modern in style. It gets good reviews but is not as prestigious as the others
