Can anyone suggest a beach resort on Zanzibar that would be nice and safe for a single young American woman to spend a long weekend?

All the best resorts are on the East Coast. Zanzibar has very little crime other than property theft. Any resort you book, or even a small hotel, will meet you at the airport and take you across the island. Please have a look at my Zanzibar Island and Jambiani pages. Jambiani is a village with hotels as opposed to a resort and is more for those on a budget.
