Hanoi Travel Forum

I'll be moving to Hanoi at the beginning of July this year and I would very much appreciate if anyone can give me some advise or their own experience of Hanoi. I bought a travel guide but I still prefer to hear from those whose been there and done that things. Where is the best place to live? What's transportation is like overthere? Are the people as friendly as they say? Please share your thoughts and wish me luck for another new life in Hanoi.

I am so jealous. I would love to live in Hanoi. We visited there last year and fell in love with the city. We were trying to find a way to stay! ;) As for living there, I am not sure what is the best. We loved the Old Quarter, but that is the budget travelers paradise with lots of guesthouses lining the alleys and streets. Likely you will need to get a motorbike to get around the city. It seemed like this is how most of the locals did it. What a great city! Good luck with your move. You'll have to tell us how it goes!
