Hii all

We are planning trip to Canadian Rocky this year.
Is Mid Aug/Sept good time to visit?
How would weather be like?
How long should we spend there? a week or?

Any valuable information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance/Christine

There is a huge area loosely defined as the Canadian Rockies. The British Columbia side has a huge number of really wonderful things to see, places to go, then there is the Alberta side with Banff National Park, Lake Louise, and on and on it goes. Before you go much further, you should check out the tourise pages of those two provinces, and then check out Alberta and Britich Columbia on the Destinations search here on VT. Once you narrow it down, you'll have a better idea how long to stay. To see the "Canadian Rockies" could take you a year or two to do them justice from one end to the other, especially since they offer such different options in all the seasons. The weather should be great. Check out the altitude, though. I live at sealevel, and in Calgary I had trouble breathing when I went hiking the day after I arrived....I only made it about 500 feet before I was just gasping. After a few days I was fine, and we went up up and up the mountains....Unbelievable views and sights. I know you will have a wonderful trip.

I love the rockies in September. Depending on how late you go the trees will change colors and be very beautiful. after September 1st the main tourist season ends and things quiet down a lot but most sites are open and still possible to visit so you will have a nice private experience.
I always like to try and visit around the time of the full moon as the mountains are beautiful in bright moonlight and by September the days are getting shorter so its nice to have light at night. The week starting September 7th will be the beginning of the brightest time, building to the full moon on September 15th. Evenings will be quite cool but Days will still be fairly pleasent however a freak snowstorm is not entirely out of the question.
As previous poster said the area is huge and there are many things to see. If you tell us where you are planning to go we can help with some suggestions.

Yeah I would agree with jasper and west their of. A few years ago on our honeymoon my wife and I got the train from Toronto to Jasper and then drove to Vancouver. We went to lake louise, ice fields, Banff national park along the highway. The more time you got the better. Also take loads of film cos theres so much their in that lovely part of canada. And also one thing I noticed was that canandian people are so helpful and lovely. I stayed with friends and believe it or not I cryed when I left cos didnt wanna leave and thats a man who was 32 then.
