Safe? Of course!

Info here: http://www.shelford.org/ and

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Shelford

It's about 4.3 miles from Cambridge itself.

http://www.multimap.com/map/home.cgi?unsupported=1 will give you a zoom-able map.

http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/planner_main.jsp?database=B will give you a route and approximate journey time.

Rather than park in central Cambridge, which is difficult and expensive, it would be better to use the 'park & ride' system. Details here:

OK. Well, there are plenty of car parks in Cambridge (though they may be full, depending on when you go). Map here:

I am not psychic though! :-) I've no idea whether it's always full.....you'll just have to try your luck on the day!

Try park and ride which is at Trumpington, near the Shelfords. Saves the hassle trying to park.

If you need to park in town I suggest you park at Queen Anne Terrace, adjacent to the Swimming Pool and Sports Hall. Town is a 5 minute walk and you have the benefit of enjoying Parkers Peice (the birthplace of Football )
