| Grand Cayman | Looking for a camera to buy Posted: Fri February 22, 2008 06:25 PM UTC
I am looking to buy an SLR camera while visiting Grand Cayman in April. Are the prices there better than in the U.S.? Can anyone suggest a reputable store?
Thanks so much! |

Hi do you want a digital camera or a film camera. there are some superb buys in film cameras, I recently purchased a mint Olympus OM10 film camera in perfect as new mint condition from a dealer I know for £22, Best wishes Greg

All high-end tangible goods in the Caribbean are imported by plane or ship. Transportation costs, + taxes, will be factored into the retail price. You're probably better off obtaining your camera stateside. Will be in Caymans end of March/early April myself, but would never even consider buying such things there, or anywhere else in the Caribbean. Stick to where market forces of competition, supply & demand, keep prices reasonable, and where you have assurance of genuine-ness plus return privileges and repair options. S'pose you buy an SLR in G.C. and it turns out to be a dud or a knock-off. What'll you do then?
