| Kent | Bus to Ightham Mote Posted: Fri February 22, 2008 03:31 PM UTC
I will be in London the first weekend in October and am planning a day trip into
Kent to see Ightham Mote now that it has been renovated by the National Trust. I am thinking of taking the Autocar 222 bus from Borough Green to Tonbridge, getting off as close as possible to Ivy Hatch, from where I would walk to Ightham Mote. The two bus stops that look possible to me are Back Lane at Ivy Hatch and Plaxtol Church. To judge from the map, Back Lane looks slightly closer to Ightham Mote by road but which would be the better stop for walking to Ightham Mote, possibly using local paths, or should I choose a different bus? I use public transportation whenever possible. Thank you. |

I just had a look on the national trust site and they advise " take , as you say bus 222 from Tonbridge to Borough Green, but get off at FAIRLAWNE" before Ivy Hatch. From there, there is a footpath to Ightham Mote, half a mile.

I've been there on a walk (been past there I should say as it was still shut for renovation then) and would agree - follow the advice on the website.
