| San Sebastián | Modest Hotel/Pension near San Sebastian (Donostia) Posted: Thu February 21, 2008 03:05 PM UTC
I am looking for an hotel (2/3*) in the San Sebastian area on April 20th. before taking a ferry from Santander the next day. I've looked on VT but not found anything suitable.
Anywhere within 20-30 minutes of San Sebastian would be fine. Recommendations and/or Suggestions greatly appreciated. |

As reasonably priced hotel accommodation in Donostia is expensive and hard to find, you might want to try "rural" accommodation, a very good alternative nowadays.
One that is in San Sebastian itself, with 5 doubles available for 49-59 euros a night incl. + 3 euros for breakfast (optional,) is Kapoeder (www.kanpoeder.com); broadband internet in all rooms! Contact person-Ines Enparantza Agirre -Tel: 943 310 754 -Moblike: 606 279 464 -E-mail: info@kanpoeder.com You can find a list of the ones Gizpuzkoa at http://www.rinconesdelmundo.com/casasrurales/guipu Rural accommodation maybe in an isolated farmhouse or in a village. It can be run like a hotel, per room or some are to rent the whole house or apartment on self-catering basis. They are very popular, especially in spring/summer and make a good alternative base for exploring the country.

You can get a list of accommodations through the tourist office pages.
See my page for adresses: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/6051d/3e32f/ Some links for pensiones in the old part of San Sebastian:(if the church bells beside dont bother you) http://www.pensionamaiur.com/ http://www.infobide.com/pensionsanjeronimo/portada.html http://www.pensioneaso.com/ubicacion.htm http://www.pensionaries.com/ For some other hotels it seems you can also book online through: http://www.sansebastianreservas.com/hotel.asp?idio Another good page to search hotels: www.bookings.com

Thank you very much for your help, Susana. As well as an overnight stop in April we are hoping to make a longer visit in the late summer so it is good to have so many places to look! Thanks again. Barbara

It may be difficult to find accommodation in late summer: in july and august because of tourism and local fests and holidays, and in middle-late September because of the international film festival:

Thank you very much for that information about the dates of the Film Festival. Because of other commitment we would not be free to travel til Sept 20th but that will be right in the middle of the Festival. May need to rethink our timetable. October possibly getting a bit late in the year -? Thanks again for the tip.
