I second Best Buy. It's a big chain across the USA, but their selection can't be beat and you can trust their products1

In Seattle, the top photo equipment store is Glazer's http://www.glazerscamera.com/ It has the best selection of new and used equipment and cameras with the most knowledgeable staff. You can also rent equipment and cameras from them. This is the store where the "professionals" go. You'll also find good information on photo workshops and exhibits. It's a great place to browse, but I had to stop going there because I always ended up buying something that I didn't need.

I definitely second the advice to use Glazer's Camera in Seattle. Telephone: 206-624-1100. Location: 430 8th Ave N, just slightly north of downtown. While I have bought their Cannon equipment, they also are fine for Nikons, and good service.

Thank you all. Glaser's will be fine for me as I'd like to rent and test a lens before buying.
