Hey there - you might have better luck in the hostels. Plenty of people team up and travel together after meeting up first in Sydney.
or you could post a sign in the hostel for anybody looking to drive from Sydney to...your first destination?

Hi.
Not wanting to dampen anybody's enthusiasm but, using a rental vehicle for a 'round Aussie trip' is, to my knowledge, very close to impossible. Economically and practically. Also before you do anything I suggest you drop in to my 'Barrow Creek' page - and also read Joanne Lees' book which I refer to there. Barrow Creek page, highlight copy and paste< http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/5c3d8/1caf3e/ > Or browse through my travel pages. That tragic couple went to a Sydney venue to buy their Kombi Van. Watch the movie 'Murder in the Outback'. A good video store should have it. I have. The buying and reselling is about the only way if you haven't alrady got your own vehicle. It can be a wonderful adventure but there are 'lots and lots' of precautions which must be taken. A book has recently been published called "See Australia and Die" !! I am not a negative person but I have done it and know the risks for the inexperienced traveller. Best wishes but take cate. Laurie.

Hmmm. what's the postcode for Sydney Island, Queensland?
S'cuse my ignorance but I've never heard of it and can't find a postcode listed ??? 'Tis a puzzlement! (There's one enormous error up that way on VT already !! We don't want another. Try finding the postcode for Brisbane Range!)
