| Hampton Beach | Family activities in Hampton Beach? Posted: Wed February 20, 2008 05:02 PM UTC
Hi there!
I'm going camping with my niece and nephew (10 and 15 years old) in Hampton Beach this summer. Any family activities (rides, slides, mini-golf, etc.) you could recommend in that area? We don't mind driving around a bit. Thanks! Isa |

Hi Isa,
Hampton Beach is great for the beach itself, it gets a bit rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights though. Teenagers hang out there until all hours of the night. If you are camping you should be just fine. Hotels there tend to be loud. There is a concert hall right on "the strip" called the Hapton Beach Casino. Downstairs is an arcade. Tehre are a lot of little shops there. If you want a quieter experience, go North! Places like North Hampton and Rye offer a much quiter (in my opinion) beach experience. There are boats that leave the shore that go to The Isles of Shoals, whale watches, and fishing boats. These are great for family and not too expensive. I usually leave from Rye Harbor. There is no place in New Hampshire you can't get to in 4 hours or less, Maine is also right up the road, maybe 45 mins away. The entire NH coastline is only about a 40 minute drive. I have a list of things to do in New Hampshire on my website if that helps (http://www.nhtourguide.com). Lake Winnipesaukee is also a lot of fun. There is a large boat there too. I think a family of four is like $100 USD for a trip across the lake. The mountains are also great in the summer. Places like the Kancamagus Highway is a nice drive, great for getting away from the heat. :) Have fun!!

I grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, & we use to vacation on Hampton Beach every summer. There are a ton of places for the type of family activities that you desire. Just walk down the boardwalk & you'll find them with ease. I was also suggest the following places:
1. Whale Watching with Eastman's Fishing & Platypus Tours in nearby Seabrook. 2. The James House, a National Historic Landmark 3. Tuck Museum Complex

http://www.hamptonbeach.org/ should be quite useful. The waterslides are always fun for the kids, but there is a much better park in portsmouth called water country. Basically the beach is food and video games not much mor but then again it is the beach so you should enjoy the water and sand.
