| Port-of-Spain | Honeymoon to Trinidad and Tobago Posted: Wed February 20, 2008 09:40 AM UTC
Dear VT Members,
Thanks for the immense support you offered me when i needed it.Please my wife and i just got married and we decided that instead of going to Cuba with our friends,we will rather visit Trinidad and Tobago, though our friends are still leaving for Cuba. She really want this vacation,so we have decided to visit Trinidad and Tobago on the 8th of March and stay for a month. Please we need a friend who would be able to help us with locations and information. We will also need an accomodation,so pls someone help us find a friend who would help us arrange an affordable accomodation as well as show us places around town. Thanks and we will very much appreciate any assistance.Looking forward to hearing from any VT Member with such a help!!! You can reach me on samchelgh@gmail.com Thanks again and have a lovely day!! |

Hi, I'm glad you've chosen Trinidad for your honeymoon. It's a small island with a great deal of excitement (and that's not just another tourism slogan - I mean it cause i've travelled elsewhere and I still love home). Allow me to babble a bit first: I think i'm fated to help you cause your arrival date just happens to be my birthday! (and international women's day). With that said, I must admit that my only experience with tourists was helping my aunt from "foreign" occupy my unused room in my parents' house! Can you help by telling me where you want to stay and what you plan to do for a honeymoon. If you want so ideas on restaurants check the wikipedia article on port of Spain. The city has an international flair.
I know you only plan to stay a month, but one great event you would love is the Plymouth Jazz Festival in Tobago starting from 27 April. The sponsor is a big local conglomerate so they always have top foreign acts - this year they have shakira, peabo bryson, diana ross, rod stewart to name a few (http://www.plymouthjazzfest.com/) The good thing about visiting tourist attractions in Trinidad is that just about everything is free or cheap. (Trinis believe that the Government must provide for all, including tourists!) I would like to help show you around a bit while you're here. I work as a petroleum engineer in a goverment ministry in Port of Spain and I own a car. There isn't any need to pay me either, I enjoy giving tours when I find the time. I would be willing to help you in judging locations to stay. To find a good guesthouse, you could try the listings on the trinidad tourism website. Places like Maraval,Petit Valley, St.Ann's and Woodbrook are good. St. James is ok but it depends on where. Laventille and Belmont are dodgy locations and should be avoided. Newtown is ok as well. Feel free to e-mail back if you're still interested.
