Miami Luggage Storage in Miami (c9 hours)
Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 09:24 PM UTC
Hi

We'll be disembarking our ship fairly early in the morning but our flight is at nearly ten in the evening.

We would like to store our luggage somewhere and sightsee. Any ideas anyone?

Incidentally, we have stored luggage at the airport before and gone to the Blue Dolphin Mall, but don't really want to do this again.

Our luggage won't fit into a hire car's trunk.

The Miami Visitor's Centre has not responded to my emailed question and the port and the ship say 'no' on security grounds!

We contacted a couple of hotels but they say they are unable to help too.

See, I have tried!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Regards

Hi there,

I can only think of Miami Airport. You can store you luggage there and go on with you one day tour. I know for a fact that service is not provided at the Port of Miami.
Enjoy your stay here.

Thanks for your reply Robert.

I know that there is the storage facility at the airport (although that will cost us a bomb as we'll have four - or five cases) but we really want to stay in downtown Miami for the day.

Thanks again

Have you tried to ask your cruise line about this service? Not sure if they provide it.

If you're staying in downtown you can't miss the new hot air baloon type of thing, right by Bayside Marketplace.

Hi Glbtrotter. Yup, tried them too.

If you see a couple, surrounded by luggage, standing by the pier all day long - it's us.

Thanks anyway!

If you hire a bigger car your luggage will fit.

I like this last suggestion. you can rent a larger car to suit your needs and leave it at the airport. shlepping to the airport, taking all the bags into the storage area (remember they charge by the size) and then going out again and while you are doing that you cannot park your car in front of the departure area, it makes sense to rent a larger car and it might turn out to be cheaper as well.. also please look into why you cannot check in your bags for your flight early enough.. in which case go and check in and get your boarding passes and then go and sightsee..it would work for domestic flights but wont work for international flights on companies whose check in wont open until about three hours before departure. good luck
