Sydney Tour package for a German student
Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 02:34 PM UTC
Hi, I am an 18 years old student from Germany, and I will spend my training time in Sydney from July until September. Before I fly back home Ive got 10/11 days in September where I would like to get to know Australia a little bit. I have been surfing around the internet, but the tour packages I am interested in are just too expensive for a student.
Now I`d like to ask you all for help: Have you got any suggestions that are worth looking after (email-addresses, tour package offerings, bus-tour, flihts and so on)I am really thankful to get the one or other hint. Just surving around makes no sense anymore, because I cannot afford the expensive tours. Thank you in advance for every idea or every hint!

well you can just travel around on your own in australia

where do you think you would like to go to?

do remember if you have spent july until september in sydney you will; be right into the culture and have made friends - maybe once you have got to know the place at about 17th august you can make a decision

australia is free and easy and there are cheap ways of getting about and having fun

don't lock yourself into anything right now

do you know where you might like to go?

i live about 3 hours by train from sydney and my 24 year old son lives in sydney - i can tell you how to book a train or a bus or whatever - but no need to panic - it is easy to get to places and there will be plenty of other young people from all over the world going to places

Hi craig, thank you, I think it would be the best to see the south of the country. At first I wanted to go to Darwin, but I didn`t notice that it is so far away. thank you for your answer!

I am really open-minded, and by now don`t have concrete ideas of where to go. But I only have a certain budget to spend and I understand staying overnight in hotels is very expensive. So I thought, maybe it would be cheaper to book a package,(with a bus tour etc.) But everything I found was very very high.

you could probably get a cheap flight to darwin if that is where you really want to go

we have several economy airlines here - virgin blue has a happy hour offering cheap flights on the internet from 12 -1pm

husband uses it to get to visit the daughter (22) in Melbourne

I hate flying and travel by train or bus - so I know that well

it is very late in australia - so most people are asleep

but when they wake up they will be answering your question for sure

so be sure to remember your password and log on again

australians are friendly and like to help out

I finish school in July and will be starting to study at medical school in October (want to become doctor) . For my studies the University requires a 9o days patient care training in a hospital. An I will stay 60 days in a hospital in Australia in order to work there as a trainee.

ah you are going to be a doctor - well done

i met a lovely young girl from germany who was a nurse in an operating theatre in melbourne - we had a good long chat

yes i hang out on VT a lot - but because I am a mother and because I often stay in hostels - where the young people stay - I am very helpful to young people if I can be

there was a young girl from finland coming to australia and she was really scared - so i gave her my home phone number just in case - she had such a great time she never needed my help

Yes, and for me it will be a great adventure, too. I have been travelling with my parents a lot, but I have never gone to another continent on my own. Australia lies just "opposite" Germany, far away. I think this training is one of my chances in life that probably don`t come back again. I am really exited when I think about it... and my parents are really scared, when they think about it...

i am sure your parents are scared

i will be in NZ - got a job opportunity - so can't give you my home phone number in Wingello - I won't be there - but I can (almost) guarantee you will be fine

but in NZ I will have broadband so if you have any sort of problem - email me and I will help you sort it out

but you won't have any problems if you are sensible and brave - which you are
