Re: Visiting Dades Valley and Gorge May 18-22 Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 08:04 PM UTC
The Dades Valley and Gorge area is one of my favourite and most recommended area and driving route - stunning area for walking and absolutely fantastic for photographing - ive taken many and when am there its hard to stop! Have a look at my pages - still not really got the best of what ive got or seen but its not a bad coverage so far - so please have a look at my pages on the Dades and Msemrir, Ouarzazate and Telouet - along with its side trips such as Anmiter and Fint.
theres a few relevant tips on my actual main page for Morocco and a little of my own love for architecture and examples of the amazing colours to be found around Morocco (and my favourite areas)also in my Marrakech page.
As you can see in my tips Ive recommend two auberges - Kasbah la Vallee and the Tissoudrine.
The Draa Valley is fantastic for kasbahs - but i love my Telouet favourite - which is a Glaoui kasbah as is the Taourirt one in Ouarzazate - theres one at Tamdaght near Ait Benhaddou and there are a few around Skoura which are well worth visiting which is along the Dades Valley as are the ones around Kelaa Mgouna a little further along the Dades Valley road getting close to Boumalne which is where the turn off is up to the Dades Gorge.
May is quite a lovely time to be around those areas - if you also like flora and lush looking vegetation - which is what is also lovely about the Dades Gorges road and the oasis valleys around the Dades Valley - the roses will be still be blooming - the ones not yet harvested (the rose festival is about the first week of May) and the pink oleanders which are quite prolific during their season around May and June.
All the best.
