| Barbados | Shall I visit Barbados this summer? Posted: Mon February 18, 2008 01:26 PM UTC
Hello,
I have always wanted to visit the carribean and never been! Barbados has stood out as being beautiful, relaxing and well worth going to. I have thought about visiting there this summer 08, from the UK for 2 weeks. I have found some reasonable flights and looking into getting a villa, apartment to stay in separately! Just a few questions: Whats the weather going to be like? Is it too risky going in August? Is it very expensive? Are there lots of things to do? Also, if anyone knows of any villas/apartments for rent it would be much appreciated. Many thanks Steph Stephanieuk23@aol.com |

It's usually pretty hot and humid in August and is plum in the middle of the wet/hurricane season. Barbados does not get hit by hurricanes very often but it does rain. Otherwise the weather and sea conditions are spectacular at that time, and since it is out of season, accommodation and flights are cheaper. There is lots to do from myriad beach activities to various gardens to a zip line through the rainforest canopy to museums and places of historical interest. Oh and good restaurants and lots of shopping at duty free prices. You might find some stuff at www.destinationcaribbean.net to help you decide on where to stay and what to do.

Barbados might get more rain in August but it doesn't last long - I would recommend that you stay in Oistins - very quaint fishing town - great supermarket and fish market - not a tourist area - quiet but you can hop a bus anytime to tour island or go into Bridgetown - I recommend Bloom Dale Apartments on Enterprise Drive - cheap - 2 minute walk to local Miami Beach - hope this helps!!
