I'll be showing up via Greyhound very early in the morning and I wanted to know if it's a good idea to walk to the airport or are there buses or shuttles from the station to the airport (this would be a Sunday morning)?

The Red Line starts at 6am on Sundays. http://www.valleymetro.org/bus/Bus_Routes_Jan_28_F
You can't walk, it's way too far, and it's a really bad area between the two.
