Hi - When are You going to be in Valencia, and for how long?

Here is my list - Some I've seen/ done - some I wish I'd got chance to do during my short visit - Ah well there's always another time!

As throughout Spain, there are many Festivals in Valencia - Hopefully You'll get to experience at least one.

La Fallas de San Jose held 12 - 19th March is one of its best known celebrations - pyromania at its best!! One of the loudest and most spectacular celebrations in Spain.
Other Festivals March/ April are Semana Santa - Holy Week and Fiesta de San Vincente Ferrer

June- Festival of Corpus Christi
Dia de San Juan - midsummers day - involves washing your feet in the sea, writing your bad habits on a piece of paper, then burning the list on a bonfire!

July - Feria de Julio - music concerts, 'battle of the flowers', bullfights, jazz festival - oh and more fireworks!

August - 40km from Valencia is the town of Bunol - where the legendary La Tomatina - tomato throwing festival occurs!! You can get here by train.(Take a change of clothing for the return journey!)

October- Valencia hosts a Mediterranean film festival

There will be many other events - just check the local press, or pick up free whats on guides in bars, tourist info etc.

Other must do or sees?

Climb the 207 steps of the Miguelete bell tower for views over Valencia and the ocean - recommend doing this just before sunset. Before Climbing the bell tower, have a look around the Cathedral, visit the Holy Grail, and find the severed arm of St Vincent.

Catch a No 19 bus from Plaza del Ayuntamiento or the tram from Pontede Fusta to the city beach - some nice cafes and bars here. Try a plate of freshly cooked paella, seafood, and/ or a local beer - beer is more popular than wine in spain - Sangria is viewed as a 'tourist drink' - Agua de Valencia is the drink to try instead - Water of Valencia is made of orange juice, Cava, cointreu, then other liquors - There are many variations.
A pleasant long sandy beach to stroll along, or try the water/ beach sports.
If you have more time - Playa El Sayer is 10km away and has a pine trees for shade.

Spains 2nd most visited attraction is The Ciudad de las Artes Y Las Ciences - or City of Arts and sciences (The most visited is the Prado museum in Madrid). Worth visiting just for the futuristic architecture. Contained in the park is a planetarium/ IMAX cinema/ laser show, an interactive Science museum, concert hall and its main attraction - Oceanografic - with a dolphinarium, penguin pool, and underwater tunnels, where fish, rays and even Sharks swim around you!

Watch Valencia Club de Futbol, one of Spains premier soccer clubs, and witness the teams supporters cheering them on.
