| Brisbane | Sunshine Coast - to Noosa or not? Posted: Sat February 16, 2008 11:00 AM UTC
I will be in Brisbane for my friend's wedding in early September and my hubby and I want to go a few days early to visit the Sunshine Coast for 3 nights of luxury.
I have heard rumours of Noosa's beauty ... would you say Noosa is the best spot to visit along the Sunshine Coast? Any hotel / resort / apartment suggestions? I want to be very comfy and walking distance to restaurants and beach would be excellent. Happy travels! Daniele |

I like just about all of the Sunshine Coast, including the hinterland, but I guess Noosa is probably the best choice for visitors. There's a string of accommodation along Hastings Street, the main restaurant/shop street adjacent to the beach so any of them would suit you. The only one I know personally is the Sheraton (excellent, as you would expect). Have a look at www.noosa.com.au for the others.

I agree with Colin - Noosa's great!
And you'll see when you find a map of Noosa - the main drag of Hasting's St has hotels/restaurants on both sides, but only one side has hotels that have gate access to the beach. They're small, gorgeous looking hotels backed right up to the beach. There's a great hike through the national park as well. www.wotif.com.au for great hotel deals.

Hiya Daniele...and g'day Colin & Michael. Great answers guys, thumbs up :o) If you want 3 nights of luxury, then look no further than Noosa Pacific. Here's the site - http://www.noosapacific.com.au/index.htm
Funily enough I finally found the site due to your posting. We stayed there a few years ago now and I actually forgot the name of the place.....so that when it came down to writing a tip I had my photo up but havn't been able to find it on the net. So today I was looking again because of your thread and finally I found it! when I did a google photo search...it was the first one that came up yea! haha....so consequently I've updated my Noosa accommodation tip and hopefully have helped you too ;o) Not a bad way to start the day hey...lol. Cheers, Ann :o)

Noosa is a beautiful spot, there is no doubt about it. But it is also very commercialised and very very expensive. If you have the money then the best spot to stay is on Hastings Street (the main strip). I wouldn't say its by far the best, but its certainly up there.
Some other gorgeous to check out are Coolum, Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay, Double Island Point, Mooloolaba just to name a few. I highly recommend staying at the Coolum Hyatt. Great spot, fantastic facilities, tranquil atmosphere and close to the beach. And also not far from Noosa! Check out www.queenslandholidays.com.au for more information on the Sunshine Coast, things to do, events and accomodation.

Hi Daniele
Yes, either Noosa or Mooloolaba. Noosa has a more relaxed, exclusive feel about it and Mooloolaba is more young and Surfers Paradise'ish. It's a shame you can't stay longer, for my favourite on the Sunshine Coast is Sunshine Beach. There are a lot of luxury apartments there (check out :http://www.dolphinbay.com.au/) but I think most are only available for a week or more (I could be wrong so check it out - I think the Costa Nova or Sundancer apartments can be booked daily). It has a cute village with a few good restaurants and a great surf club that does great food as well with views to die for! You can walk from Sunshine Beach, through the national park to Noosa - do it early morning and have breakfast in Hasting Street! The Big hotel in Noosa is the Sheraton and its pricey. There is also some good apartment accommodation in Noosa with resorts such as the Breakfree group represented. (see:http://www.noosaeguide.com/) Watch out for School holidays (some time in September?) and gave a great time. John
