If you are an Indian you don't need visa to visit Nepal.

Reply #1 seems to have miscomprehended your question.
When I (US citizen) got my Indian visa at Kathmandu in late 2004, it was a 5-business-day wait (ie, 1 full week). They don't keep your passport during that time, however: the day you apply (usually a big lineup outside, go early), you fill out the application ("BLACK PEN ONLY! NO BLUE!") and submit it, then return a week later, turn in your passport, they insert the visa in fairly short order, and return it to you. Don't know if there's an expedited service offered; if so, it would be even more expensive than the already-spendy visa itself.
