Delhi Delhi - Rajahstan
Posted: Fri February 15, 2008 08:37 PM UTC
Hi there,
me and my friend are going to visit Delhi and Rajahstan. We would like to hire a car plus driver and are looking for an agency or something like that which offers affordable and safe opportunities (for two women). Any recommendations?
We are also looking for a possibility getting Ayurvedian Treatment and would also appreciate any recommendation for Delhi.
Thanks in advance!
C.

Mr. Mahavir Yadav was my driver during my September, 2006 trip to India. I was traveling alone (female), so, I got several excellent references on him before I requested his services. He collected me from the airport in Delhi, drove me to the Oberoi Maidens where I stayed for 3 days. He drove me around Delhi, a city he knows well, organized rickshaws for me when I went into areas not easily accessible by car. He then drove me up into the Himalaya via Corbett National Park. He also knows Rajasthan well. I would highly recommend his services, he is a man of great integrity, very helpful and really takes excellent care of his tourists. His car is well maintained and always clean. His rates I thought very reasonable. Mr.Yadav can be reached at RAJASTHANBYCAR@VTmail.com, or at rajasthan_discover@yahoo.com. E-mail me if you need more information.

I used Mahivar and my experience was slightly different. Instead of Mahivar I got a driver with limited English skills. To be sure he knew his way around but it was frustrating when I could not get answers to simple questions. But it was a reliable Air-Conditioned car which came on time and dropped us off as planned. We did Agra Rajahstan, Jaipur, then back to Delhi. I am going again next year doing the same trip with a friend but I will only use Mahivar if he is the driver.

Mr. Yadav must have expanded his business, when I used him he was a one man operation. I have used other drivers on my travels to other Asian countries and understand the frustration of not having a driver who speaks one's language reasonably.

We have just returned from a 3-week visit to India, the first 16 days with a wife and the last 10 days with our own driver Bobby of www.voyageindia.net

We told him where we wanted to go and he booked hotels for us in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, Varanasi and Delhi - booked our rail trip to varanasi and our flight back to Delhi. He drove us around Rajahstan and Delhi, nothing was too much trouble and he was a great travelling companion. Highly recommended.
