1. Fine arts - worth to visit the State Hermitage with a very rich collection of European paintings or Russian museum with the collection of Russian paintings.
http://www.hermitagemuseum.org/html_En/index.html
http://www.rusmuseum.ru/eng/ (the metro station "Nevsky Prospect")

2. Military relics -
2.1. the artillery museum the web site is only in Russian http://www.artillery-museum.spb.ru (the metro station "Gor'kovskaya")
2.2. The museum of the city history with the exibition about the siege - http://www.spbmuseum.ru/ - sorry doesn/t work in English

3. religous relices - worth to visit cathedrals - see at http://eng.cathedral.ru/

4. Music - if you like classic music you can visit our famous Mariinsky theather - seee at http://www.mariinsky.ru/en/. But tickets is very expensive. They have also a consert hall - it's new and very nice and tickets there are less.
And we have in oue city the museum of music instruments.

2 days not enough to see and you have to choose from this list.
If you have any more questions don't hesitate to contact me.
Have a nice time in our city!
BTW, when do you paln to visit?

St. Issac's Cathedral is great (I believe it is closed on Wednesdays).

Peterhof (the Summer Palace -- the place with more ornate fountains than Versailles) -- if in the spring or summer; you can take a hydro boat there and back from docks along the Neva beside Hermitage.

Depending on what is scheduled, Marinsky (sp??) Theatre is great.

Two days is so little, but you can have a nice visit.
Day 1 See the center,
Church on the Spilled blood, 1 hour, walk to Palace Square and heritage
Hermitage Museum, 4 hours,
St Isaac Cathedral 1 hr. If summer, climb the colonade fora great view of the city
Evening, classical concert or ballet at the Mariinsky Theater or other venue

Day 2 Across the Neva river
Peter and Paul fortress, many exhibits, enjoy view across the neva river and city skyline, church too, 3-4 hours, walk over to
Artillery Museum, big collection, 2 hours
Evening- another classical concert or see a "Feel yourself russian" folk show for some folk music and dancing.

If it is summer, you could spend the 2nd day at Peterhof, beautiful palace grounds and fountains, but it will take all day.

Get a taste and come back again!

Definitely - the Hermitage is worth a visit but even taken alone - two days is not enough, try to choose to what section to pay more attention (interiors, picture galleries, antiques...)
Evening concerts can be found at the Philharmonic - the Great hall in Arts aquare and the Small hall in Nevsky prospect.
For ecclesiastic items - visit rather functioning, active churches - orthodox Kazan cathedral or St.Nicholas cathedral (next to the Mariinsky theatre) or St.Catherine's catholic church in Nevsky.
There is also a museum of the religious history - 15 min walk from Nevsky prospect.
