Hi
I need to treat my small daughter at the hospital.Please guide me the place to stay near the hospital, hotel or any service appartment for a budget of 1000/- a day .If you have any phone nos of persons or hotel it shall be very helpfull. Also advice on transport from airport to shanker natrala and cost of the same. Thanks in Advance |

Hi,
If you are well-off, then i will say that the reply is useless, But if you do not want to drain money then this message will be useful. Airport opposite is the railway station, Just take a ticket to a station called "Egmore railway station"(max. ticket rs.7.00-). journey time is 30-40 mins, egmore railway station is a major railway junction, so you can spot the differene between ordinary station and the egmore station(more number of platforms). After you get down at the railway station ask which side is the albert theatre, because if you take the left of the station then there are not hotels, only the right hand side of the railway station you can find hotels. There are lot of hotels for rs.100/- to rs.1000/- and much more at egmore railway station. Now you have checked in. From egmore to shankar nethralaya hospital costs rs.20-35 only by auto, if you go by call taxi then rs.50 extra. If bus is convenient to you, then at the railway station you get lots of buses, which is 3 stoppings from the bus stand, nothing more than 10-15 mins of travel. DO NOT TAKE AUTOS FROM SHANKAR NETHRALAYA HOSPITAL, CROSS THE ROAD AND MOVE AWAY FROM THE PLACE AND THEN TAKE A AUTO TO GET YOU BACK TO HOTEL, IF YOU WANT TO VISIT THE HOSPITAL COMPULSORILY BY AUTO ONLY, THEN CATCH A AUTO AND TELL HIM THAT YOU WANT TO GO TO "DPI"(DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC INFORMATION) NEAR TO SHASTRI BHAVAN. GET DOWN AT "DPI", OPPOSITE IS THE SHANKAR NETHRALAYA HOSPITAL. COMPULSORILY BARGAIN WITH THE AUTO MEN. Local phone number for any enquiry or assistance call: 044-26444444. This number is something similar to yellow pages enquiry, but make a polite request to the guy about something which you want to know, for example you are lost and want to find the place. etc. incase of any emergency, you can go to central railway station, just 2 stoppings from egmore railway station, you can go by the same train or hire an auto for rs.30/- maximum amount my maild id newnewgen@rediff.com

Your information is so good I appriciate it to my heart but I have just come back from chennai cursing all auto guys who have cheated me when i am traveling with my small baby for medical reasons. Because of them I nearly missed my appointment as they stoped in the middle of the road giving fasle breakdown report. Thanks a ton friend. Rohit Khanna
