Hi everyone. I m a new member here. Looking forward to have some tips from y'all pertaining to my trip to Gold Coast in this coming April. For info, this my visit to Australia and I'll be heading there with my wife and two kids for a week. I have heard about some great places like movie world, sea world and so on. I plan to rent a car and hope the routes in Gold Coast are convenience and not too busy like Hong Kong since I'm not really familiar driving in that area. What is the best company that offer good rates for rental? Thanks in advance.

The roads are nothing like Hong Kong, don't worry. It's really a rural area by comparison, small towns (although we call them cities in Australia) and not many people.

I'm not sure of local rental companies but other VT members will give you good advice on that I'm sure.

Thanks colin, mind to know few things else from u? I m thinking of staying somewhere around burleigh. Is it near to get to coolangatta airport, theme park, shopping center and factory outlet?

Burleigh Heads is a great place to stay. It is in between the airport and Surfers Paradise so it is pretty convenient for getting to anywhere! It is just a short drive to Sea World, and a little further to the other parks. The beach at Burleigh is beautiful. As to rent-a cars I can't help you, but the gold Coast is big on tourism, so i guess prices across the board will be fairly standard. Have a nice holiday. Tracey

there are many places to rent cars on the Gold Coast..presumably you will need a car from the airport..All the major rentals are there anyway.

Thanks a lot guys for the info. SInce there are very good bus services in Gold Coast, may I know something from y'all about ezy pass (surfside buslines? Once I reach the airport, can I get that surfside buslines from the airport?

there is a car rental accross the road from the airport and another one just up the road from the airport and of course the usual ones on the airport (the ones off the airport will pick you up anyway and take you to their place of business (just a few minutes away) to do the paperwork and hand over the car. Check out the web sites. If you have google earth, type in the address and go see where the accomodation, theme parks, car rentals places are, otherwise go to the maps and check the addresses. Do you have any maps yet of the Gold Coast. If you have trouble finding car rental Post another question and I will check the out for you (but I will be away from 13th March for a while)
