Hello, thanks group for the information and assistance. Was wondering how to make inexpensive phone calls from Salvador to the states. Is it best to get pre-paid calling cards before travel or purchase them there. Thanks.

If you can find a Brazilian store in Atlanta, the phone card brands Voz Do Brazil, Saudades and Carnaval have numbers to use to cal the U.S. from BRazil.
There are also a couple of places in Porto da Barra, along Av. 7, that advertise calling. And there are internet cafes from which to use Skype.
