Dover Post-cruise tourist in dover

We will be ending a cruise in Dover and would like to see Dover and Cantebury before going on to London. Is there a train that we can get that goes to Cantebury and back to Dover the same day? What is the average cost of a train round trip to Cantebury? Can we just book tickets when we get there?
Thanks for the info

Hi Patricia,
Yes there are many trains going from Dover Priory Station to Canterbury daily. The journey takes less than 30 minutes & will cost £6.40 return ( currently ) . Take a look at www.thetrainline.com for actual departure times, Darren.

If you plan to visit the Cathedral you can find opening times here

http://www.canterbury-cathedral.org/index.aspx

You will also see that there is an admission charge.

In Dover what you can see depends on how long you will spend there. Closest to the cruise terminal is the Castle which is walkable, albeit with a bit of a climb from the end of the promenade. You could take a taxi to see the Dover Patrol Memorial and the old coastguard station, now a very nice cafe, just above St Margaret at cliff with nice views over the harbour. The white cliffs will of course be best seen as you sail into harbour.

Where will you leave your luggage?

Sorry - that last question sounds a bit cheeky! Just concerned as to whether you have already sussed that one!
