if you go by car, check:
http://www.mapy.cz/#x=133544887@y=132919872@z=6@mm if by train then there is direct train vienna-prague and then prague-karlovy vary.

From Vienna by train or bus (cheaper, about the same travel time - 5 h) to Prague. Then take bus- either "Asiana" or "Student Agency" (frequency: each hour, travel time: about 2 h 15 min)
