| Manila | airport taxi from mnl international airport to muntinglupa Posted: Wed February 13, 2008 11:48 AM UTC
can someone please tell me cost of airport taxi fare going to muntinglupa? I am going to see some family who reside in a subdivision somewhere in Muntinglupa and it is going to be a surprise reunion. So can anyone there give me an idea of the cost?

P500 is a safe bet. Or it could be more.

those would be the "coupon taxis" that have counters at the airport's arrival area - and they're better to have for a no-hassle ride
the common cabs would be cheaper (if you chanced upon an honest driver who would use his meter unrigged)

I live in Muntinlupa so I think I'll be able to give you a few important tips:
1. The coupon taxis at the airport will charge you an arm and a leg - they charged me 800 pesos from the airport to Makati which is a lot closer so expect to pay at least P 1500.00 if you plan on going to Muntinlupa. However, since they're regulated and are based on fixed fees, they can't haggle with you for a "premium" nor can they refuse to take you to your destination. 2. If you don't have much luggage and can deal with walking out of the airport and to the main road, you can flag down an ordinary cab. A trip from the airport to the Alabang, Muntinlupa exit it should cost you less than P 300.00 at the flag down rate. (IF the meter is not rigged) For your info - I think the flagdown rate is now P 35.00 and then it's 2.50 for every kilometer thereafter and the airport is approximately 30 km from Muntinlupa. Beware however that since Muntinlupa is quite far, you may have a hard time getting a cab to take you there or if they agree, they'll ask you to pay a "premium" - normally the metered rate plus P 100.00 to P 200.00. When in a hurry from the airport, I usually will not even wait for the cab driver to ask me if I'm willing to pay the premium - I immediately offer to add P 100.00 to whatever the meter reads at my destination, this usually gets them to agree to take me. However, actual cost will depend on which subidivision in Muntinlupa you're going to. For example, the subdivision I live in is about three kilometers from the exit and then it's another six kilometers from the gate to my house so I end up paying around 600.00. In addition to the fare, the cab drivers (coupon or ordinary) will also probably ask you to pay the toll fees of P 65.00 as the South Luzon Expressway is the fastest (and practically the ONLY) way to get to Muntinlupa.
