Depends on what day you want to travel, but probably the cheapest way to get from London to Liverpool is on the Megabus, which often have fares for as cheap as £1.00 each way. Details at www.megabus.com
To get to Anfield from Liverpool city centre either take the number 26 or 27 bus from Paradise Street Bus station or a 17 or 217 from Queens Square. Alternatively take the Merseyrail underground Northern line from Central Station or Moorfields Station and get on any train going to either Southport, Kirkby Or Ormskirk. Get off the train and Sandhills and the soccerbus meets the train. When you purchase your train ticket, make sure to ask for a ticket to Anfield as this will then cover you for the soccerbus. Yes it could also be worth trying National Express Coaches. They have Fun Fares that also start at 1 pound but you need to book in advance. http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/offers/funfares.cfm
