Moscow Moscow for a special birthday celebration
Posted: Tue February 12, 2008 08:57 AM UTC
Hello, Never been to Russia flying in on the 19th March next day it's my birthday. Will meet a friend. What is a nice place to celebrate ? On a budget but would go all out on that day! Interested in everything especially shows eg ballet or acrobats. Nice venue to eat or view or just something amazing that I would never forget.
Thanks

if you like ballet you should try to get tickets to the bolshoi theater. we were lucky enough that Swan Lake was the performance. that is something special for sure.

one of my favorite places there was a sushi/hookah lounge. we spent HOURS there, the lighting was dark and mellow, you just hang out in your little spot with pillows. i loved it there.

Chaynaya Komnata - Peka
Tverskaya-Yamskaya D.1

again, here is a tip for that place if you'd like to read more and see some photos

i would also definitely recommend Cafe Pushkin. that was a real treat and the food was delicious! especially the beef stroganoff :) a bit pricey but it was worth it.

I would recommend a Georgian restaurant Madame Galife with a unique interior of Georgian Maestro Rezo Gabriadze and nice kitchen. It is located in 26 Prospect Mira - www.madamgalife.ru.
It is not a tourist place and not emptying your pocket like Pushkin - while being completely original and hand-made inside, with a garden view (not that great in March).
