how much should i expect for $1USD,

Is is better to change all my currency at the airport or wait until i arrive in manila city? what about boracay? is it just bad rates in boracay? I heard 40php to $1USD is standard?

No need to change everything at the airport as you would run the risk of carrying cash with you when you move around. ATMs are all over, including in Boracay, and it might be better if you will draw funds through the ATM.

However, if you already have US$ cash or TCs, change a small amount at the airport then go to BDO (Banco de Oro) as they reportedly have good rates. They are open upto 5pm and 7pm in malls.

About US$1 = P40.85

I just returned from Boracay.. the rate was around 38 to 1. Not much different than the banks really. And the ATM in D'Mall area only charges a $1.00 surcharge. I wouldn't worry about the exchange rate as much as I would over paying for things.. .especially tric rides and clothes. If you need any info on Boracay let me know. I visit there often and have a good many friends there as well. Hope you have fun.
