| Hanoi | Northern Vietnam with two small kids Posted: Tue February 12, 2008 03:07 AM UTC
Will be travelling to Northern Vietnam with my kids (4 and 5 years old) at Easter. If you have any tips for things to do that might stimulate the kids, I would love to hear from you. We are trying to visit Sapa (2 full days, 1 night), Boat on Halong (24hrs) and a couple of days on the beach at Cat Ba(3days), then based in Hanoi (2days). Would welcome your thoughts. Cheers, Clive

Hmm, I don't know if Cat Ba's beaches are all that great. Perhaps staying at a hotel with a swimming pool in Hanoi would better suit the needs of your kids. Also, I'd recommend a trip to Bac Ha if you've got the time and you could re-allocate your beach days at Cat Ba to more time for northwest Vietnam. 2 days (for Sapa) are just too short for the northwest and there are more colorful markets than Sapa.

Been there last year. Try to extend your trip in Hanoi and Sapa, although you'll probably skip trek there (muddy and rainy with kids), but with 4WD can be real deal.
Rather stay 2 days on boat then 3 days at Cat Ba. You'll enjoy anyhow. Cheers !

Hello Clive,
May I know your time of travelling? If it's not the rain season, you can spend more time in Sapa ( may be 4nights/3days- included 2nights on the train). For Halong and Cat Ba- you should spend 2days/1night.Ideally time to travel to Sapa is from March to April, it's scene this time is very wondeful. Hope you have a nice trip

hi there.
Halong bay and sapa is 2 great highlight of vietnam, travel with 2 child you should take private family travel package, local travel agent will arrange every things for you, that would be more flexible, i think 7 day is alow you cover sapa, halong bay cat ba island. check company name viet vision travel.
