Hello,

We will be spending one day partly in Agadir and partly in Tourdant....we are taking a guided tour.

I have two questions.....is there a fee to enter the Medina? If so, how much is it?

And....what is an appropriate amount for a tip to our tour guide? Our tour is going to cost about 900 dh per person for the day. Is the tip 10%, 15%, or more? We know that we are going to have a wonderful time and want to tip appropriately.

I hope it is okay to tip in Moroccan money.

As part of our tour, we are going to be going somewhere for lunch...the cost of the lunch is included in the tour.....should we tip separately for the lunch? Or should we include the lunch tip with the tour tip?

I'm sorry for all the questions.....we want to do what it right and proper.

There is no fee to enter any Madina. You should tip in Moroccan Dirhams. If you like you can tip the guide and tip the waiters seperatly if you felt that they deserved it.

Here in Canada, the basic amount for a tip is 15% of the cost. One can add more if deserved, and take a bit off if the service was not acceptable.

There is no fixed percentage. They'll be happy with whatever you give them.
10 % is more than enough. Remeber that for the most part those people are poor and any thing you give will go along way in helping them.

At first, There is no fees to entry the city, And to driver by Taxi from agadir to taroudant it cost only 20/30 DHS per a person..And i think the best and famous food that you are going to eat as lunch called TAJINE..
So one big TAJINE (1 KG of meat)for enough family cost almost 100/150 DHS.
By the way, Taroudant is a beautiful small city, As the president "was" Jacques Chirac always spent his holiday in taroudant..

Thank you berberyoungman29! I appreciate your comments. We have hired a guide who will drive us around Agadir..see the sites, then take us to Taroudannt, and see the sites there. I don't know where we're eating...but all that meat would surely feed alot of people.

We are very excited to visit this area. It is very different from what I've ever seen before.

The price of 900 Dirhams per person sounds expensive even if it does include lunch. Which company have you booked with? I assume it's one that is headquartered in Canada?

I agree with Khattabi....frankly I wouldn't worry about tipping to much to the tour guide...he's probably going to get a separate cut from the restaurant for taking you there, and he'll get a nice commission if you decide to buy anything. If you want to really help give money to the people that really need it, donate to a Moroccan charity!

Our tour guide company is from the UK. I don't have the name of the company in front of me...but the names of the fellows meeting us at the ship at Mohamed and Mafoud. I didn't organize the tour...someone from the US did it.

Maybe 900dh was too high.....I believe that in Canadian $$ it came to $60pp, for the day. I think that equals 460dh? That seems more realistic. Sorry about that!

They say that our lunch is in their own place?? That should be interesting.

We are looking forward to this...I just want to show my appreciation and tip accordingly....different countries have different standards..and I didn't want to insult anyone.
