My husband and I are going to be taking samba classes. Can anyone tell me where I can buy ballroom dance shoes for the class. We are staying in south end of Copacabana. Obrigada! |

This up link show you someone who make personal shoes for carnival. Try get in touch with them through "Contact" (Contato) page link. As far as I know good shoes for samba are the light and slipping ones (but not too much). Tennis shoes (or alike) are not good to learn samba because they fix quickly on the floor. The samba shoe must slip on the pavement. The samba shoe must be strong in order to sustain hard exercises. They may not have little cow hide strips, or, big heels, to avoid not deadly accidents. I never danced samba on Rio de Janeiro, so I think to learn how to sambar should call for the same male/female shoe model . Nevertheless the brazilian shoemakers says one pair costs R$100,00-R$600,00. A good sandal should be good for it...Have nice classes in Brasil. Cassiovieggore

Ehhmm, special shoes for samba dancing in Rio?? This is completely different from samba dancing in europe/us and has nothing to do with ballroom dancing. Anything on your feet will do.
