| Vigan | Luzon Trip Posted: Mon February 11, 2008 04:26 PM UTC
I checked the forum for several hours but still I'm planless :(
Could anybody pleeeease help me on the following: I will come with a friend to Laoag (arrival at 12.55 by plane from Manila) and would like to go with the bus (or any other transportation) down to Vigan. From there to Baguio (gonna fly from there back to Manila) via Banaue (rice fields). My question is the following: 1. Which bus I have to take from Laoag to Vigan? Any timetable or location of the bus station? 2. Is there any possibility to stop at another places like Illocos Norte or La Union for surfing? 3. With which bus I can get to Baguio/Banaue? 4. How long the trip Laoag - Vigan - Banaue/Baguio will take me? 5. i have some surf equipment with me. Is there enough space for some boards? Would be great to get some feetback :) Thanks a lot. R |

You will get some feedback, but it may take a couple of days.
You are asking a lot of questions and some research will need to be done by somebody to enable them to inform you of what there is to do. you may be able to find some of the things yourself here on VT, or if that does not help try google a few of them.

1. If you're heading straight to Vigan from Laoag airport, take a jeep or tricycle going to downtown. You can get off as soon as you hit the national highway where there are mini-buses going to Vigan or Manila (no specific schedule) or inform the driver to bring you to Partas, Farinas or Maria de Leon bus terminals.
It is suggested to take the bus bound for Vigan as it will enter the city proper. Manila-bound buses will drop you off at the Vigan-Bantay junction which is about 1km from city proper. In this case, you may take a tricycle or kalesa (horse-drawn carriage) going to Vigan proper. 2. On your way to Baguio from Vigan, you may take Viron or Partas and other "generic" mini buses. En route, you may opt to get off in Bauan (La Union) though I'm not familiar with the surfing season. 3. Banaue is about 7 hours travel from Baguio. You may take Autobus or Dangwa. Besides, there is no airport in Banaue. You may opt to travel by land back to Manila (9 hours) via Autobus or Victory Liner. Both these bus lines leave Banaue around 5pm daily. 4. Laoag-Vigan: approximately 1.5 hours Vigan-Baguio: app 6 hours Baguio-Banaue: app 7 hours Banaue-Manila: app 9 hours 5. Depends on how bulky your equipment are. Normally, big buses have storage/compartment, while small buses can place your things on the bus roof. Hope the above help.

I actually have a related question for asianbelle: I need to know about the cost of the bus trip to Santa Maria in Ilocos SUR. My son lives there, and his uncle said to take the bus to Partas.
Do you know the total cost, duration of travel? I was told it is a 9 hour trip. Details appreciated--I tentatively plan to leave the latter part of November or first of December. Thanks, Greg

I'm not sure about the exact fare, but allot P500-P700 one way for aircon bus. Partas has a coach service (about 3 seats per row with on-board WC), and I think same with Florida Bus. You may also look up Viron Transit, Maria De Leon and Farinas Transit.
Yes, travel time is between 8-9 hours.
