Hi all, we are going to kazakhstan in june for 4 weeks. traveling by train from moscow to Almaty. we would like to do some trekking when we are there, so have anyones some good tips, where to go and where to book!

Almaty is super-expensive, so plan to get out of thye city if you want to keep your costs at a low roar. Udachi!

There is Sparpreis Kazahstan ticket from Germany. You can do it via Belarus and also going around (via Ukraina).

Base price (for the 1st passenger), round-trip:

Frankfurt(O)-Belarus-Russia-Kazakhstan: 330 €
Frankfurt(O)-Ukraina-Russia-Kazakhstan: 318 €

2nd, 3rd, etc. passengers pay 50%, kids pay 25% of the above price.

There is a direct Berlin-Astana sleeper.

For one person it's a question of course, but once there are two or more of you, the entire thing will make sense esp. if there are youngsters who would pay full price on the airplane but only ca. 82 € on the train. Even for second adult 160 € round-trip from Frankfurt(O) is very cheap.

You can buy these tickets at any DB counter.
